Astute’s Renewables team is partnering with a leading installer of domestic, commercial and industrial scale Solar PV and BESS, with a commitment to professional development and sustainability to recruit a Solar Design Engineer for its office in the Bucks area.

Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will:
- Design solar PV systems for both residential and commercial projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Perform site evaluations to assess solar performance potential, shading, and structural factors.
- Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, and installation teams as well as stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Use software tools such as EasyPV, OpenSolar, and PVsol to develop precise solar PV layouts and simulations.
- Conduct energy modelling and financial analysis to evaluate project feasibility and return on investment (ROI).
- Optimise PV designs for maximum efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, considering client needs and preferences.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in solar PV design and engineering.
- Support costing estimations with technical advice.
Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Demonstrable experience in Solar PV design, using tools such as AutoCAD, EasyPV, OpenSolar or PVSol (or similar solar design software) is essential.
- A City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or a similar field of study.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be desirable but not essential.
- Excellent knowledge of electrical engineering, systems and industry standards.
- A Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role.
Personal Skills
