Astute's Power team is partnering with a global O&M Contractor on a Biomass Power Station located in Rotherham. This plant is capable of producing ~41MW of power, enough to supply 78,000 homes in the local area. As an Assistant Shift Team Leader / Control Room Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe & efficient operation of the plant including start-up & shutdown operations, plant inspections as well as ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
Responsibilities and duties of the Assistant Shift Team Leader role:
- Using a DCS system you will be required to start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and more.
- Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
- Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff engaged in work.
- Taking part in first line maintenance activities, including plant inspections and ensuring maximum availability.
- Working within the Company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Professional qualifications:
- Ideally a relevant technical qualification such as a C&G/NVQ/ONC/HNC in an engineering discipline.
- At least three years' experience in an operational environment on a power station or heavy process facility with steam raising plant. This could be energy from waste, coal, CCGT, biomass, CHP, nuclear or utilities.
- Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
Personal skills:
- The Assistant Shift Team Leader role would suit someone who has ambition to develop into a Shift Team Leader.
- Is comfortable working alone and as part of a shift team.
- Is able to carry out extended plant walks including working at height.
