Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading company in the power generation sector to recruit a Mechanical Engineer for its combined heat and power plant (CCGT) in Retford, Nottinghamshire. The Mechanical Engineer role comes with a competitive salary dependant on experience, opportunity to progress, and a Monday to Friday working pattern, with some flexibility required during outages.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Engineer roleReporting to the Mechanical Manager you will:
- Deliver safe, compliant and cost-effective mechanical engineering and maintenance solutions across CCGT plant and systems
- Diagnose faults and support effective resolution through structured analysis and engineering judgement
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to improve plant reliability, availability and efficiency
- Plan, scope and manage mechanical engineering works, including plant modifications and improvements
- Support predictive and preventative maintenance activities to optimise long-term asset performance
- Manage external contractors and service providers during maintenance activities, outages and projects
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, reports, drawings and engineering records
- Ensure all activities meet health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Contribute to budget management, contract specifications and commercial decision-making
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Degree level qualification is highly desired, but HNC/HND would be considered. Mechanical or engineering related subject required.
- IOSH or NEBOSH highly desired.
- The willingness to work towards, or hold, Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status
The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who is:
- Methodical and analytical, with a structured approach to problem solving
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering within an industrial or power generation environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical plant equipment and asset management principles
- Experience managing contractors, work programmes and maintenance budgets
- Collaborative, with the confidence to lead activities and influence safe working behaviours
