Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Plant Manager to join their brand-new Energy from Waste Power Station in Tilbury, Essex.
The vital Plant Manager role comes with a salary of up to c.90,000 + c.8,000 car allowance per annum + excellent bonus + private healthcare + other benefits.
The plant is currently in construction phase and as Plant Manager, you will play a critical role to recruit the full Operations and Maintenance Team through the mobilisation period through to full operational handover from the EPC contractor.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for:
- Guide the plant through the full mobilisation phase including construction, commissioning through to full operational handover
- Implementing & maintaining the relevant management systems to operate this new Energy from Waste plant including identifying process improvements to maximise opportunity and resolve root causes of issues as they arise.
- Play a pivotal role in the recruitment of the full Operations and Maintenance Team.
- Ensure plant availability, waste throughput and energy production targets are being met.
- Full site compliance for all health, safety, environmental and quality issues including overseeing permits, audits, inspections & ISO compliance (OHSAS18001, ISO9001, ISO14001).
- Liaise with key stakeholders (Local Authority, Environment Agency, HSE etc) including the EPC Contractor for identifying build issues and regular Construction meetings.
- Full P&L responsibility for the site relating to CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
Professional qualifications
- Ideally qualified with a degree in a relevant engineering field
- Would be highly beneficial to have an IOSH or NEBOSH Health and Safety Qualification
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
The Plant Manager role would suit someone who has:
- Prior senior management experience within a heavy process engineering environment such as Power (EfW, Biomass, CCGT, Coal, etc), Refineries, Petrochemicals, COMAH sites, etc.
- Mobilisation experience of a power generation site will be highly advantageous.
- Excellent leadership skills with proven experience in successfully achieving plant KPI\’s.
- Familiar with Engineering standards and legislation such as PSSR, LOLER, PUWER etc.
- Budget/Commercial/Strategic experience.
