Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading biomass company in the UK to recruit an Electrically Biased Plant Engineer to join its Biomass site in Lincoln for a shift role. The Plant Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to £48,000 + benefits and continued training opportunities. Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Engineer role:

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across the biomass production facility.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults across plant machinery and production equipment.
  • Fault find on motors, drives, control panels, sensors, instrumentation and associated electrical systems.
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly and safely to minimise production downtime.
  • Maintain and support electrical systems across conveyors, pellet presses, dryers, hammer mills, pumps, fans and other process equipment.
  • Assist with installation, testing and commissioning of new electrical plant and machinery.
  • Carry out inspections and identify potential electrical failures before they impact plant performance.
  • Support PLC fault finding and troubleshooting of automated production systems.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders and electrical documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with the production and mechanical teams to improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and assist with engineering stores and spare parts management.
  • Work safely as part of a 24/7 shift team, promoting high standards of health, safety and housekeeping.

Professional qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong electrical maintenance experience within a manufacturing, process, biomass, recycling, power generation or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proven experience fault finding on industrial electrical systems, motors, drives and control equipment.
  • Good understanding of PLCs, instrumentation and automated production systems.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification is desirable, alongside experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding/fabrication or mechanical maintenance.
