Astute's team is partnering with a leading utilities and infrastructure services provider, recognised for its technical excellence and commitment to sustainability to recruit a Mechanical and Electrical Estimator to work out of its offices in either Nailsea or Bridgwater. The strategically important Mechanical and Electrical Estimator role comes with a salary of £55,000 - 65,000 per year, up to 20% combined pension contribution, performance related bonus and many additional benefits. Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical and Electrical Estimator role
- Prepare detailed mechanical and electrical estimates using tender documentation, drawings and technical specifications.
- Work closely with designers, project managers, clients and suppliers to gather and validate project information.
- Provide cost planning, design and construction methodology advice to support informed project decisions.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and best-value solutions.
- Contribute technical expertise to support efficient design development and value engineering opportunities.
- Support the Commercial team with variations, applications for payment and final account processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients and external stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
- Mentor and support junior team members, helping to strengthen technical knowledge and estimating capability within the team.
Professional qualifications
- Mechanical or electrical qualifications, with practical experience in installation and project delivery environments.
- Proven experience in the engineering and pricing of HV and LV electrical systems.
- Full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
- Previous experience working on water and wastewater projects.
- Experience within related industries such as food manufacturing, process engineering, or oil and gas would be advantageous.
Personal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and construction processes.
- Self-starter with ability to manage their own work to achieve all project submission deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, specifically excel and experience of other estimating software.

- £55,000 - 65,000 per annum.
