Astute's Power team is proud to be partnering with a leading Biodiesel company to hire a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join their COMAH site in Ellesmere Port. The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader role comes with a starting salary of up to £60,000 + overtime. Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader role:

  • Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Plan and deliver preventative, planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are accurately recorded and closed out within the CMMS.
  • Manage maintenance stores, spare parts and critical equipment to maintain stock availability.
  • Promote and enforce high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across the maintenance team.
  • Coach, mentor and develop technicians through training, performance management and competency assessments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant reliability, reduce downtime and control maintenance costs.
  • Manage contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification and in line with company procedures.
  • Work closely with the Planner and Reliability Engineer to ensure maintenance schedules are delivered on time.
  • Liaise with Procurement to source cost-effective maintenance services and ensure purchasing procedures are followed.

Professional qualifications:

  • Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
  • Proven mechanical maintenance experience within the chemical, oil & gas, process, power generation or similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Previous experience leading maintenance teams or supervising contractors.
  • Experience using CMMS maintenance management systems.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous.
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering and COMAH site experience are desirable.

  • Organised and able to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced operational environment.
