Astute are working on behalf of a leading operator of Energy from Waste plants to find a Project Engineer for their largest assets located in the South East of England. The Energy from Waste site in the Kent area has a capacity to process 550,000 tonnes of waste per year, generating 34MW of power for the surrounding area. As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for taking the site lead on all plant & equipment upgrades from conception through to delivery & execution. Responsibilities and duties of the Project Engineer role
- Responsible for the conception, delivery & execution of plant process and equipment upgrade projects on the facility.
- Carry out risk assessments, tender specifications, and progress reports on projects.
- Manage, monitor & evaluate third party sub-contractors engaged on site.
- Support the wider Engineering team with the planning and completion of outages across three waste processing lines and also steam turbine & generator.
- Coordinate & manage all statutory inspections for lifting & pressure systems covering steam boilers, common systems & auxiliary equipment.
- Provide technical support on plant issues.
Professional qualifications
- Qualified to a minimum ONC / HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Project Management / APMP / Prince 2 qualification.
- IOSH or NEBOSH in Health & Safety or similar.
Personal skills
- Experience working with high pressure steam systems from a similar environment such as Power Station, Refinery, COMAH, Utilities plant etc.
- Familiar with statutory inspections or pressure systems and associated equipment in addition to NDT.
- Proven record with project management including CDM regulations.
- Budgetary experience.
