Astute's Nuclear team is exclusively partnered with a speciality lifting and handling equipment business, acting as the lifting principal contractor on Hinkley Point C to recruit a Black Hat Supervisor/ Non Working Mechanical Supervisor for its Hinkley Point C project. The Non Working Mechanical Supervisor will play a critical role in holding responsibility for the assembly, installation, commissioning and maintenance direction for overhead and gantry cranes and comes with a base salary up to 75,000 depending on experience and a wealth of opportunity to work on prestigious nuclear projects in the UK.

Responsibilities and dutiesReporting to the Delivery Manager you will:
- Supervise lifting execution of site / compound activities on and off HPC site.
- Be responsible for control and day to day management of the labour and plant resources to achieve targets.
- Interface with management, and other 3rd party black hats in interfacing works areas on site matters.
- Manage site labour resources and deliver pre work briefings for safety.
- Set labour to work on time, control breaktimes and return to the workface and work up to the stipulated end of shift.
- Maintain records of labour performance and punctuality and report to manager.
- Consistently review all work locations to identify and control any potential departure from approved drawings and procedures.
- Level 3 Apprenticeship or Diploma in Engineering/Mechanical Fitting or Engineering, Mechanical, Aircraft, Plant, Machinery, Marine, Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Manufacturing (Fitting and Assembly) or Installing and Commissioning Machinery and Equipment.
- CCNSG Safety Passport ideally.
- SSSTS/IOSH Managing Safely.
- Enrolment onto ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE plus completion of Nuclear Unit.
- Worked in a heavy industrial setting (Power generation, aerospace, rail, nuclear, steel forging, manufacturing, heavy lifting) on overhead or gantry cranes.
- Worked in a maintenance, installation, assembly, servicing setting.
- A salary up to 75,000 depending on experience.
- Overtime where desired.
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
