Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Technician to join its CCGT site in Hertfordshire. The Mechanical Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £50,000 and a very competitive benefit package including bonus and medical insurance. Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Technician role
- Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities to ensure plant reliability and availability.
- Plan, prepare and supervise maintenance work, including the development of risk assessments and method statements.
- Manage contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
- Support major outages, inspections and overhaul activities, including contractor coordination and quality assurance.
- Participate in the implementation of site safety rules as a Competent Person or Authorised Person, in line with training and competency requirements.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime and improve plant performance.
- Support the delivery of process safety objectives and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
- Develop technical specifications and support procurement activities in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor maintenance costs and contribute to budget management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to support operational objectives.
Professional qualifications
- HNC (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline, or commitment to completing the qualification as part of ongoing development.
- A minimum of three years' experience within power generation, heavy industry or a similar process environment.
- Proven experience carrying out mechanical maintenance, fault finding and contractor management activities.
- Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, including permit-to-work and safe systems of work.
- Strong organisational, communication and computer skills, with experience supporting maintenance planning, budgeting and contract management activities.

- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while managing competing priorities and responding effectively under pressure.
- A proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills and a positive approach to fault diagnosis and continuous improvement.
