Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading Turbine Servicing company to recruit a Senior Control Engineer for its offices in Lincoln, working on a hybrid basis (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home). The Control Engineer role comes with a start salary of up to £70,000, dependant on experience, alongside benefits that include BUPA healthcare. Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Control Engineer role

  • Lead the design, programming, testing, and commissioning of control system retrofit and upgrade projects for gas turbine applications.
  • Review customer tender documentation and provide technical input into proposals, quotations, and clarifications.
  • Develop detailed functional, software, hardware, networking, and interface design specifications.
  • Deliver PLC-based control system solutions across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning and support.
  • Coordinate and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities with suppliers and customers.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate closely with Engineering, Projects, Field Service, and Aftersales teams.
  • Support installation and commissioning activities on customer sites, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Ensure all project documentation, drawings, and software deliverables meet company quality standards and timelines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, controls philosophy development, and technical design standards.
  • Support business development activities through technical customer engagement, sales support, and supplier interaction.

Professional qualifications

  • Degree qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with PLC-based control systems across multiple platforms.
  • Proven experience with hardware and software used in gas turbine control and fuel systems.
  • Strong background in commissioning, site installation, and testing of industrial control systems.
  • Experience developing and reviewing FAT and SAT procedures and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, quality processes, and control system architectures.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to deliver projects to quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Offshore Safety Survival Certificate or similar offshore certification (desirable).
