Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Electrical Project Engineer role
- Lead the development and execution of large-scale capital projects, including CCGT Lifetime Extension and new build initiatives.
- Provide specialist electrical engineering expertise, including HV and transmission systems, ensuring design compliance and technical integrity.
- Prepare, review, and approve electrical design documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
- Oversee the commissioning, installation, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring alignment with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to evaluate tenders, technical submissions, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Support ongoing plant operations with engineering solutions that enhance reliability, availability, and efficiency.
- Lead root cause analyses (RCA) and implement lessons learned across the project portfolio.
- Drive improvements in plant safety, performance, and compliance through technical innovation and strategic planning.
- Manage external contractors and service providers, including scope definition, selection, and performance monitoring.
- Actively contribute to the management of change (MoC), risk assessments, quality assurance, and reporting processes.
Professional qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng/IEng) or working towards professional registration.
- Significant experience in electrical engineering within power generation, ideally with CCGT technology.
- Proven track record of delivering engineering solutions in a project and operations environment.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and legislative compliance requirements.
