Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading power generation company to recruit a Plant Manager for their Energy from Waste site in North Yorkshire. The Plant Manager role comes with a starting salary of up to £90,000, car allowance, bonus, and medical insurance. Responsibilities and duties of the Plant Manager role
- Provide strategic leadership for all site operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant performance across multiple treatment technologies.
- Oversee the management of Energy-from-Waste, Mechanical Treatment, and Anaerobic Digestion facilities to achieve operational excellence.
- Take full accountability for site P&L, delivering financial targets and driving cost efficiency.
- Act as the Senior Authorised Person (SAP), ensuring electrical and process safety systems are effectively controlled and maintained.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a high-performance and safety-first culture.
- Implement and continuously improve process safety standards and operational procedures.
- Manage the full lifecycle of complex assets, from construction and commissioning through to operation and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and key contractors to support long-term operational success.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Professional qualifications
- Proven experience leading large operational teams within high-risk or process-intensive industries.
- Strong technical understanding of steam systems, turbines, boilers, and associated process equipment.
- Demonstrated expertise in process safety management, ideally holding SAP authorisation.
- Track record of P&L ownership and delivering measurable operational and commercial outcomes.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

- Strong communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
