Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Power Generation company to recruit a Controls and Instrumentation Project Engineer for a hybrid role working across CCGT sites in the south of the UK. The Controls and Instrumentation Project Engineer comes with a starting salary of up to £75,000 + bonus + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the C&I Project Engineer:- Deliver C&I engineering support for projects, outages, and maintenance activities across multiple power generation or energy storage sites.
- Lead or support multidisciplinary project teams, managing stakeholders within the organisation and throughout the supply chain.
- Conduct proactive and reactive work, including fault-finding, problem-solving, and technical investigations on complex process plant systems.
- Define scopes of work and produce clear, accurate technical and contract specifications.
- Ensure full compliance with process, regulatory, and industry standards, maintaining a high level of HSSE and quality performance.
- Oversee and assure contractor performance, including Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities.
- Apply project management tools and techniques to plan, monitor, and deliver work safely, on time, and within budget.
- Benchmark and share best practice across sites, contributing to continuous improvement in performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Support change management processes by investigating issues, identifying root causes, and implementing robust engineering solutions.
- Provide technical support for the optimisation, maintenance, and modernisation of C&I systems, including DCS/PLC platforms.
- Higher National Diploma or Degree in Control & Instrumentation or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Strong understanding of C&I process systems, relevant regulations, and engineering practices.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate complex technical issues, determine root causes, and implement effective engineering solutions.
- Experience managing work packages, contracts, or project tasks, including HSSE, technical, and commercial oversight.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, with IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
- Functional Safety (IEC61508/61511) and/or Cyber Security for Industrial and Control Systems (OG86) experience would be highly beneficial.
- Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of issues through to successful resolution.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with teams and senior stakeholders.
- Well-organised, detail-orientated, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Salary of between £55,000 - £75,000
