Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy from waste company to recruit a Mechanical Technician for their site in North Yorkshire. The Mechanical Technician role comes with a starting salary of up to £48,000.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical TechnicianReporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will:
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance and corrective mechanical repairs to maximise plant availability.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults across equipment in Mechanical Treatment, Anaerobic Digestion, and Incineration areas.
- Complete all maintenance records and work orders accurately within the CMMS system.
- Support safe working practices by following permits, risk assessments, and leading by example during toolbox talks and handovers.
- Assist with monitoring plant performance and work closely with operations and engineering teams to meet site KPIs.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers during on-site maintenance or repair activities.
- Contribute to managing mechanical spare parts, ensuring stock accuracy and availability.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced team members, helping to develop technical capability within the team.
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or time-served mechanical apprenticeship.
- Proven experience carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance, including fault-finding and repair activities.
- Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work, including risk assessments and permit-to-work processes.
- Competence using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for recording maintenance activities.
- Ability to liaise effectively with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support maintenance operations.
Safety-focused, proactive, and dependable with a hands-on approach to problem solving. Strong communicator with a collaborative mindset and willingness to support wider engineering and operations teams. Organised, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of performance and compliance.
