Astute's Power Team is partnered with a global company to recruit for an Automation and Control System Specialist to assist with the UK, and occasionally global, matters across the fleet of Energy from Waste Power Station assets. This is a hybrid role which will involve travel across the UK as well as international travel.

Responsibilities and duties
- Control System Maintenance & Support: Deliver technical assistance, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting for control systems, including Siemens PCS7 platforms.
- System Upgrades & Configuration: Implement and configure control system upgrades to support changing operational needs, including hardware enhancements, software updates, and optimization of control strategies.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify and resolve complex issues related to hardware, software, networks, and field instrumentation to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.
- System Commissioning: Support the commissioning and start-up of new control systems through hardware setup, software configuration, and system integration activities.
- Customer Training & Support: Deliver customer training and ongoing technical support covering system operation, maintenance procedures, and compliance with safety standards.
Professional qualifications
- Ideally a Degree in a relevant Engineering subject such as Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation and Control, etc.
- A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity.
- A full UK driving licence is a necessity given the nature of the role with travel.
Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge
- Prior experience working with industrial control systems - ideally Siemens PCS7 / TIA Portal.
- Hands-on experience with control system integration, HMI/SCADA systems, and field instrumentation.
- Proficient in control logic development (PLC/DCS) and system design.
- Familiar with industry protocols such as Profibus, Modbus, OPS and Ethernet/IP.
