Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a renewable energy provider with a commitment to professional development and sustainability, to recruit a Project Solar Technician for its field-based (Cheltenham, Crawley, Salisbury) projects.
The Project Solar Technician role comes with a salary of up to £42,000 per annum, a 12.5% company bonus scheme, a van and fuel card, and additional benefits including pension and flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities and duties of the Project Solar Technician roleReporting to the Project Manager / Site Manager, you will:
- Support on-site installation activities during solar farm build phases, including DC/AC electrical installation oversight and verification
- Carry out inspection, testing, and verification of electrical works (aligned with C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing)
- Assist with commissioning of inverters, transformers, and monitoring systems, including troubleshooting faults during energisation
- Ensure installations meet quality standards, drawings, and compliance requirements (wiring regulations, design specifications, and grid codes)
- Support snagging, punch-list resolution, and handover documentation at project completion
- Perform and document inspection and testing of LV electrical systems
- Verify earthing, insulation resistance, polarity, and continuity tests
- Support compliance checks and QA/QC inspections throughout construction phases
- Identify and escalate defects or non-conformance issues
- Act as a technical point of contact for inverter-related issues
- Diagnose inverter faults, performance losses, and communication errors
- Support firmware updates, configuration checks, and performance optimisation
We are looking for someone with the following:
- SSSTS qualification
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing certification
- Inverter specialist qualifications (advantageous)
- Experience supporting both construction and O&M activities
