Astutes Power Team are recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor for a new build Energy from Waste Power Station located in Cheshire. As a Health and Safety Advisor you will be responsible for all H&S activities on site ranging from inspections, audits, training, coordination, and reviewing / management of EHS documents. This role sits within part of a wider HSE team, and you may be expected to support elsewhere within the business.

Responsibilities and duties of the Health and Safety Advisor role:
- Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Compliance, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and managing the safety programmes, procedures and safe systems of work including risk assessment / accident reporting system.
- Driving health and safety excellence through delivering the sites Health & Safety communications.
- Monitoring the performance of the plants health & safety program and identify opportunities to increase effectiveness.
- Liaising with external bodies.
- Carrying out on site audits and investigations.
- Developing a strong H&S culture.
- Managing and updating the sites H&S systems.
- Coordinating emergency response training.
- Providing H&S training for O&M staff.
Professional qualifications:
- Ideally degree qualified in a technical / environmental background.
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate is required as a minimum for this position.
Personal skills:
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar position on a power station or similar plant. This could be Energy from Waste, Coal, CCGT, Biomass, CHP or Nuclear. Similar Heavy Process Industries will be considered (Papermill, Refinery, Petrochemical etc).
- Familiarity with safe systems of work, safety rules and similar safe working practices.
- IT literate.
- Confident in delivering training programmes and communicating key messages.
