Astute's Nuclear Team are supporting a highly regulated nuclear site to recruit a Health Physics Monitor to join the Health Physics / Radiation Protection team at the site in Capenhurst. The Health Physics Monitor position comes with a salary of up to £40,000 - £45,000 DOE as well as a competitive benefits package and support with development and progression within radiation protection.

Responsibilities and duties of the Health Physics Monitor role
  • Reporting to the appointed RPA on-site, you will carry out routine and non-routine radiological monitoring and contamination surveys to ensure safe site operations.
  • Assist in implementing radiological protection measures and controls across the facility.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate radiation monitoring equipment in line with site procedures.
  • Support investigations into radiological incidents or alarm conditions and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Record, analyse and report monitoring data in accordance with regulatory and site-specific requirements.
  • Provide front-line support and guidance to operational staff regarding radiological safety best practices.
  • Participate in emergency response drills and actual events as required.
Professional qualifications
  • Relevant qualification or experience in radiation protection/health physics monitoring (e.g., RPA2000-accredited training or equivalent).
  • A strong understanding of radiological safety principles, regulations and monitoring techniques.
  • Previous experience in a radiation protection role (or regulatory/industrial environment).
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, safety-focused mindset.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a regulated environment.
