Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Senior Authorised Person EPCm Contractor on a new build Waste to Energy facility based in Glasgow. The Senior Authorised Person position comes with an hourly rate from £70.00 to £80.00 per day outside of IR35.
Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
- Support the Lead Senior Authorised Person (SAP) in the safe delivery of all HV electrical commissioning and energisation activities across a new-build Energy-from-Waste facility.
- Undertake HV switching operations and issue safety documentation on electrical systems up to 11kV, with experience on systems up to 33kV considered highly desirable.
- Prepare and implement switching schedules, isolation plans, Sanctions-for-Test, and Permits-to-Work in accordance with site Electrical Safety Rules.
- Provide hands-on support during the commissioning, testing, fault finding, and energisation of substations, transformers, switchgear, generators, and associated balance of plant equipment.
- Coordinate with EPCM teams, OEMs, contractors, and operations personnel to ensure safe and efficient execution of electrical commissioning activities.
- Support the staged energisation of plant systems through cold commissioning, hot commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness phases.
- Verify electrical installations, protection systems, and commissioning documentation prior to energisation and handover.
- Assist with grid connection activities, protection testing, synchronisation, and interface management with relevant network operators.
- Ensure all electrical activities are carried out in compliance with site safety procedures, statutory regulations, and industry best practice.
- Participate in commissioning meetings, risk assessments, method statement reviews, and safety briefings to support successful project delivery.
- Provide technical support and guidance to commissioning teams regarding electrical safety, isolation procedures, and energisation activities.
- Demonstrate previous hands-on SAP experience within Energy-from-Waste facilities, with a strong preference for candidates who have supported the commissioning and start-up of new-build EfW plants.
