Astute's Power Team is exclusively partnered with our client to recruit for a Production Engineer to join a brand-new Energy from Waste Power Station, currently in commissioning phase, in Braintree, Essex. The EfW Power Station will process 595,000 tons of waste per annum to generate 55MW of electricity to export to the National Grid.

Responsibilities and dutiesReporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting with all production and operational activities on the plant.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the power station within the operational parameters, which will include monitoring the plant via the DCS system.
- Developing and motivating the production team to ensure operational targets are achieved.
- Deputising for the Production Manager and providing cover for the Shift Team Leaders when required.
- Supervising contractors, reviewing RAMS and ensuring all work is carried out in line with company legislation and processes.
- Identifying areas within the plant for improvement to improve efficiency / availability.
- Ensuring HSE compliance.
- Working closely with the EPC team during commissioning to gain valuable training.
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally have an HNC / HND or above qualification in an engineering discipline.
- A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be desirable.
The Production Engineer role would suit someone who has:
- Prior experience working in heavy process engineering environments such as Power (EfW, CCGT, Coal, Biomass, CHP), Petrochemicals, Refineries, Paper Mills, etc.
- Knowledge and experience working with steam generation equipment.
- Extensive experience working with DCS systems.
- Ability to work as part of a team and cover for shift staff in times of absence on short notice.
