Astute's Renewable Energy Team is working exclusively with a key player and well-renowned market leader in the UK's solar sector. They own and operate a vast number of solar assets and are now looking to add a Communications Technician / Expert to the team. The Communications Technician role comes with a salary up to £48,000, plus door to door overtime, a van and paid fuel amongst other benefits. Realistic overtime could see you earning an extra £15,000 with much of this due to the door to door pay. Whilst the role is advertised in Birmingham, applications from people across England are welcome as this is a national role with travel.

Responsibilities and duties of the Communications Technician role:
  • Provide (remote and on site) specialist support, service and maintenance on the Communications, Network and SCADA systems across a portfolio of assets
  • Support the regional O&M teams, providing your communications specialism to help optimise the assets
  • Contribute to the internal knowledge base in relation to communications and SCADA, mentoring O&M Technicians where possible
  • Look for and propose solutions for continuous improvements across the assets when it comes to communications
  • Support the relevant internal teams in developing API connections to new sites as required
  • National travel for business need with some overnight stays
Professional qualifications:
  • Fully qualified Electrician 2391 is highly preferred but not essential
  • A recognised HSE qualification is preferred
  • A clean UK driving licence
Personal skills:
  • Flexible and happy to travel
  • Experience in networks, communications and integration to SCADA
  • Solar and/or BESS experience is highly preferred but not essential
  • Experience in working with HV switchgear and someone with inverter experience would be useful
Salary and benefits of the Communications Technician role:
  • Up to £48,000 basic salary, depending on experience
