Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Power Generation company to recruit a Multi-Skilled Technician to work at its Biomass plant in Chester. The Multi-Skilled Technician comes with a starting salary of up to £50,000 + benefits. Responsibilities and duties of the Multi-Skilled Technician:

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical plant and equipment across the power station.
  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing functional testing on a range of power plant systems.
  • Supporting maintenance activities outside of your core discipline when required.
  • Assisting during planned outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities.
  • Inspecting and maintaining plant assets to ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Updating maintenance records and work orders accurately using the CMMS.
  • Identifying reliability issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working closely with operations and maintenance colleagues to maximise plant availability and performance.
  • Actively supporting site safety culture, including hazard reporting and participation in investigations.

Professional qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualified in relevant engineering qualification with apprenticeship completed.
  • An HNC or higher engineering qualification (desirable).
  • At least 3 years' maintenance experience in a heavy process or industrial environment.
  • An IOSH or Health & Safety qualification (desirable).

Personal skills:

  • Proactive and adaptable, with a positive attitude toward change and continuous improvement.
  • Confident decision-maker with strong ownership, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator and team player, able to influence, collaborate, and lead across multidisciplinary teams.
