Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a respected renewable energy and energy efficiency provider, committed to sustainability and professional development, to recruit a Bid Writer for its Stockton-on-Tees site. This strategically important Bid Writer role offers a salary of 35,000 to 45,000, along with 30 days holiday (including bank holidays), long-service incentives, a pension scheme, and additional overtime pay for occasional Saturday work.

Responsibilities and duties of the Bid Writer role

Reporting to the Commercial and Operations Lead you will:

  • Analyse tender documents (including ITTs, PQQs, and RFQs), identifying requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Produce clear, compelling, and compliant written responses across technical and service areas.
  • Collaborate with operational, technical, and compliance teams to source supporting evidence.
  • Manage the end-to-end bid process and ensure submissions are timely and aligned with public sector procurement standards.
  • Maintain and update a library of case studies, accreditations, and standard responses.
  • Support clarifications and presentations post-submission when required.
  • Continuously refine bid quality and success rates by incorporating feedback and best practices.
Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Demonstrable success writing public sector bids within the energy, construction, or retrofit sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of government procurement processes (including CCS frameworks and Dynamic Purchasing Systems).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong proofreading and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple bids under pressure and working to tight deadlines.
  • Strong research, organisational, and coordination skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Experience with bid management platforms is advantageous.
