Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Mechanical Engineer role
- Deliver full lifecycle engineering activities, from initial research and concept development through detailed design, implementation, testing, and final manufacture.
- Take ownership of defined elements of project plans, influencing overall schedules and driving on-time delivery.
- Lead and participate in design reviews to ensure solutions comply with Rotork specifications, regulatory requirements, and applicable standards.
- Interpret and respond to internal and external stakeholder requirements and technical specifications.
- Develop accurate cost estimates in collaboration with cross-functional business teams.
- Present technical analyses, project outcomes, and proposed solutions to key stakeholders, including technical leads, senior management, and customers.
- Define, develop, and execute functional and non-functional test specifications to verify compliance with requirements.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, records, and reports to demonstrate compliance with specifications and relevant standards.
- Design products and systems in accordance with internationally recognised standards.
- Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders, including Sales, Service, Production, Procurement, and Quality functions.
- Coordinate and manage project-based activities between design managers, stakeholders, and engineering team members.
Professional qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Product design, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience working in and designing products for the nuclear industry.
- Awareness of NCR Regulation 10CFR Part 50 Appendix B, and Part 21 reporting.
- Awareness of CSA N299 series of standards.
- Familiarity with IEEE Nuclear Standards (382, 323, 383 and 344) for design & engineering.
- Previous design experience with castings, gears, electric motors, seals, CAD drawings and 3D models.
Personal skills
- Understanding of a variety of project management methodologies (e.g. agile).
- Design and development using structured design techniques.
- Use of the Microsoft toolset - for technical documentation.
- Experience of task management, defect management, requirements capture, verification and validation tools.
- Willingness to travel if required.
