Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Power Generation company to recruit a Mechanical Engineer for work across two of its Power Stations located in Northern Ireland. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the safe & efficient operation of the plant through ensuring optimal plant performance, reliability and compliance with regulatory standards. You will oversee a total of 1553MW generating units combined of Gas and Steam Turbines.

Responsibilities and duties:
- Overseeing and executing mechanical engineering activities including maintenance and engineering work, projects and outages.
- Developing and maintaining an asset management plan to ensure the integrity of crucial assets including turbines (Gas and Steam), pumps, compressors, fans, fuel systems, pipework, valves etc.
- Managing the long-term condition monitoring systems, overseeing predictive maintenance schedules and supporting with troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical faults.
- Review and management of the mechanical spares, obsolescence strategies and procurement.
- Leading Mechanical Projects including upgrades, replacement work and overhauls.
- Management of contractor performance during outages and capital projects.
- Supporting the management of LTSA's, negotiating scopes and evaluating technical proposals.
Professional qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Mechanical Discipline.
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer (or working towards).
Personal skills:
- Significant mechanical engineering experience ideally gained on a Combined Cycle or Open Cycle Power Station.
- At least 10 years experience with mechanical rotating plant.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and power station / industry standards including PSSR.
- Detailed knowledge of maintenance philosophies.
- Project management experience.
- Contractor management experience.
