Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with a high-integrity health and nuclear manufacturing business to recruit a Quality Control and Assurance Inspector for its Abingdon site. This strategically important Quality Inspector role comes with a salary of up to £40,000 alongside a competitive benefits package and flexible working hours. Responsibilities and duties of the QA/QC Inspector role
Reporting to the Quality and Engineering Manager, you will:
- Primary Focus: QC, Metrology & ASME Code Compliance
- Take full ownership of CMM operations (Faro Arm with PolyWorks), including inspection programming and measurement strategy development.
- Interpret and manipulate 3D CAD data to support dimensional inspection and verification.
- Act as the business's ASME Certified Individual, performing final verification of products manufactured under ASME Code UM stamps prior to delivery (formal designation subject to passing ASME competency examination).
- Carry out goods-in, visual, and mechanical inspections using a wide range of manual metrology equipment.
- Provide clear technical feedback where drawing interpretation or customer requirements present risk.
- Secondary Focus: QA Support
- Support the investigation and resolution of internal, supplier, and customer non-conformances (NCRs).
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure quality is embedded from concept through manufacture.
- Assist Engineering and Production in maintaining full product traceability throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Essential
- Significant experience in Quality / Inspection within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CMM inspection, ideally Faro Arms and PolyWorks.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, ISIRs and FAIRs.
- Hands-on metrology experience using verniers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and pressure equipment regulations (PED / AD2000).
- Desirable
- Experience in nuclear or similarly regulated industries.
- Understanding of welding processes (MIG/TIG) and NDT techniques.
- Engineering qualification.
