Responsibilities and duties of the Technical Specialist role
- Act as the technical lead for the Solar O&M team, providing expert support to engineers across the UK.
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults using SCADA, remote monitoring platforms and system performance data.
- Develop technical solutions, repair strategies and remedial recommendations for commercial Solar PV systems.
- Support commissioning, recommissioning and troubleshooting of commercial and utility-scale solar installations.
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues and manage warranty claims.
- Produce technical documentation, standards and fault-finding procedures to support operational excellence.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical training to develop team capability.
Professional qualifications
- Proven experience within commercial and industrial Solar PV Operations & Maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of Solar PV systems, including fault diagnosis, commissioning and performance analysis.
- Experience using SCADA or remote monitoring platforms and interpreting electrical schematics.
- Full UK driving licence.
