Astutes Servicing Team are working with a leading valve maintenance and overhaul company located in Southampton and are recruiting for a Valve Technician to join their Mechanical Department. As the Valve Technician, you will be responsible for inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of safety valves and pressure relief devices in compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities and duties of the Valve Technician role:
- Carry out inspection, dismantling, cleaning, and reassembly of safety valves in compliance with manufacturer requirements and recognized industry standards.
- Perform in-house and on-site testing and calibration of pressure relief valves (PRVs).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of valve servicing, repairs, and certifications.
- Support field service teams during turnarounds, shutdowns, and routine maintenance.
- Perform valve testing and performance evaluations to verify reliability, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Comply with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards.
- Remain current with advancements in valve technology, industry trends, and best practices through training, workshops, and professional development activities.
Professional qualifications:
- Apprenticeship trained, NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred.
- Proven experience working with safety valves, PRVs, or similar mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, and ISO.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to interpret valve specifications and installation requirements.
Personal skills:
- Proficient in using valve testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and precision instruments for troubleshooting and calibration.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail to accurately identify valve failures and implement effective corrective measures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage professionally with clients, colleagues, and suppliers.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
