Astute's Renewables team is supporting an exciting and growing organisation delivering major electricity infrastructure projects across the UK. We are looking for an experienced Delivery Manager to take ownership of the successful delivery of a major high-voltage grid infrastructure project in Sheffield, with responsibility spanning construction, contractor management, programme, commercial control, commissioning and handover. This is a hands-on delivery position rather than a purely administrative Project Management role. You will act as the key interface between multiple contractors, consultants, grid stakeholders and internal teams, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme and within budget. The successful candidate will ideally have experience delivering projects at DNO or transmission level, with the ability to hit the ground running in a complex HV infrastructure environment. Key Responsibilities Take overall delivery responsibility for a major HV infrastructure project from construction through to commissioning and handover. Provide hands-on site leadership and construction supervision. Coordinate multiple contractors and manage interfaces between civil, electrical and specialist packages. Manage project programmes, milestones, dependencies and critical path activities. Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, variations, notices and payment processes. Work closely with transmission network stakeholders regarding outages, access, connection, testing and energisation. Maintain strong control of project costs, forecasts and budgets. Ensure CDM 2015, health & safety, quality and environmental requirements are maintained throughout delivery. Review contractor performance and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications. Support commissioning, energisation, testing and final handover. Coordinate O&M readiness and ensure appropriate documentation is completed. Maintain project risk registers and provide clear reporting to senior management and stakeholders. Manage relationships with contractors, consultants, designers and external stakeholders. Support the development and delivery of future UK infrastructure projects as the organisation continues to grow. Assist with construction strategies, tendering and delivery planning for future projects.The Ideal Candidate The successful Delivery Manager will have: A degree/HND in an engineering or relevant technical discipline. A recognised project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or PMP. Significant experience delivering UK electricity transmission or distribution infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of HV infrastructure and substation environments. Experience managing multiple contractors and complex project interfaces. Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts. Practical understanding of CDM 2015 and construction health & safety requirements. Relevant health & safety qualification such as NEBOSH Construction or IOSH Managing Safely. CSCS manager-level certification. Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, general arrangement drawings and technical documentation. Experience using project planning tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project. Experience taking projects through commissioning and handover. Strong communication skills, with the confidence to deal with contractors, senior management and external stakeholders.Desirable Experience Experience working on 275kV or 400kV transmission projects. Previous experience working for or alongside a DNO, transmission operator or major HV infrastructure contractor. Experience with reactive power or grid stability assets such as shunt reactors, STATCOMs, synchronous condensers or SVCs. Knowledge of transmission network safety rules, connection processes, outage planning and energisation. Experience with GIS/SF6 equipment. Chartered engineering or project management status. Experience working within project finance or lender reporting environments. Experience supporting tendering and construction strategy development.What's in it for You?
