Astutes Power Team are working with a leading independent waste to energy company with two power stations located in the Thames Estuary. The combined facilities are capable of processing nearly 1.5 million tonnes of waste per year, producing over 120MW of power for the local area.
We are looking for up to 5 Shift Assistants to join the Operations team, working across the existing and new build Power Station. You will be supporting the daily activities of the Plant which includes operating the crane & mobile plant as well as overseeing operations within the ash plant. Responsibilities- Operating the Waste & Ash Crane and assist with the loading / unloading of the waste barges and associated plant in a safe and efficient manner.
- Monitor the waste bunker to ensure any materials not authorised to be incinerated are not loaded into the feed hopper.
- Carry out first line maintenance, plant inspections, manual adjustments, reporting of incidents as and when directed by Operators and Shift Team leaders.
- Ensure compliance with the environmental permit and report noncompliance to the relevant staff members.
- Carry out all actions in line with company HSE policy and legislation.
- Ideally apprenticeship qualified
- Technical Qualification in an Engineering/Operational Discipline (City & Guilds/NVQ/ONC/HNC)
- Qualified with an IOSH in Health & Safety
- Familiar with the Waste to Energy process or similar industry such as Petrochemical, COMAH, Refinery, Papermills etc
- Competent in reading & interrogating P&ID's / SLDS.
- Background in maintenance to provide first line support.
This is an ideal role for someone looking for an entry position into the Power Sector with potential progression into a Shift Operator. Working as part of a Shift Rota 4 on 6 off. Basic salary up to £42,268 (DOE). Bonus up to 12.5%. Pension matched to 7%. Days position. Opportunity to work on one of the newest & largest EFW's in the UK.
