Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with an industry leader in the nuclear sector, delivering projects across decommissioning, radioactive waste management and environmental restoration. They support the full nuclear project lifecycle, from consultancy and R&D through to site installation and high-hazard decommissioning works and are looking to recruit a Senior Consultant for a large project in Aldermaston. The Senior Consultant role comes with a salary of up to £65,000 plus benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Lead Consultant role:

  • Provide technical and commercial consultancy support across nuclear decommissioning, waste management and environmental restoration projects.
  • Deliver optioneering studies and laboratory trials supporting decommissioning and waste management activities.
  • Produce high quality documents to support decommissioning and waste management projects e.g. Best Available Technique, Letter of Compliance submissions, waste characterisation documents, experimental and technology reports.
  • Prepare and manage bid proposals up to £25k, including scope definition, resourcing, scheduling and pricing.
  • Deliver cost-reimbursable projects up to £50k and fixed-price projects up to £25k, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality.
  • Manage delivery teams and subcontractors within agreed contract scope.
  • Provide technical input to Business Development activities.
  • Maintain accountability for project delivery, utilisation, timescales and cost control.
  • Support wider bid and proposal preparation activities across the business.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal operating divisions.
  • Contribute to and facilitate internal and external meetings, workshops and technical forums.
  • Other duties where required.

Professional qualifications:

  • Degree (BSc / MSc / PhD) in a Science or Environmental-related discipline.
  • Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace (or equivalent).
  • Recognised technical specialist in nuclear decommissioning, waste management or environmental restoration.
  • Proven experience authoring high-quality technical deliverables.
  • Experience with optioneering and/or Best Available Technique (BAT) is essential.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Membership of a relevant professional or technical body would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Salary and benefits of the Lead Consultant role:

  • Basic Salary of £45,000 - £65,000 pa.
  • Hybrid working with 2 days per week in the office.
