Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading District Heating company to recruit a Senior Combustion Engineer for sites in London and the South. The role offers a competitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum plus private medical insurance, company van and full benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on commercial heating plant and equipment, including gas boilers, pumps, actuators, heat exchangers, pressurisation units and associated pipework.
  • Attend emergency call-outs and participate in the on‑call rota (typically 1 in 4) to resolve plant failures and reinstate heating systems.
  • Manage technical and project work, including root cause analysis, plant remediation planning, safe isolation procedures, and provide technical support to colleagues when required.
  • Maintain accurate records and compliance, ensuring work orders, maintenance logs, and CRM systems are updated.
  • Support team development by training and mentoring new engineers and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively contribute to H&S improvements and incentives.

Professional qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer or similar.
  • Knowledge of heat network energy centres and plant rooms.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Gas or Plumbing.
  • Commercial Gas registration.
  • Full, clean UK driver's licence.

Personal skills:

  • Confident to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Salary and benefits:

  • Basic salary between £52,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE).
