Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading power company in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Engineer for its Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) site in Kent.
The Mechanical Engineer will earn a salary of up to £65,000 plus private medical and benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Carry out preplanned and reactive maintenance on site, working on equipment such as conveyors, gearboxes, valves, compressors, fans, boilers, etc.
- Schedule, plan and optimise all mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner, including shutdowns/outages.
- Supervise and direct contractors as required.
- Work closely with the operational department to assess and review plant performance and support return of plant to service.
- Leverage long‑term outage planning and contract specification writing experience where possible.
- Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in line with Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- Professional qualifications
- Minimum of an HNC, or preferably an HND in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a maintenance environment within a heavy industrial setting (power station, refinery, petrochemical, etc).
- A broad understanding of power station operations, specifically Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT).
- Ideally hold an IOSH or NEBOSH certificate.
- Personal skills
- Able to work well in a team or independently.
- Has a fault‑finding and problem‑solving mindset.
- Possesses planning and organisational skills to prioritise jobs and manage resources.
