Astute is partnering with a leader in hazardous waste management solutions throughout the UK to recruit a Graduate Chemist / Site Chemist to join their busy waste management operations in Peterborough.
This is a hands-on role ideal for a chemistry graduate or experienced waste chemist looking to develop their experience within a regulated industrial environment.
The Graduate Chemist / Site Chemist role comes with a salary of around 27,000 dependant on experience and will be based at their site full time.
Responsibilities and duties of the Site Chemist role
Reporting to the Site Manager you will
- Support the day-to-day operation of waste acceptance and transfer activities across site including analysis in the lab and hands-on operational duties across the site.
- Ensure all incoming waste streams are compliant (physically and administratively), managing and escalating non-conformances where required.
- Assist with stock control, stock summaries, and month-end reporting.
- Compile waste movement packs for transfer between sites.
- Monitor and report stock levels, identifying changes in waste streams.
- Work closely with the supervisor to achieve site KPIs and operational targets.
- Carry out waste sampling and analysis activities across 2 sites.
- Support site operations including weighbridge and de-bagging processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation including check sheets, production records, and process logs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and micro-project development.
- Participate in audits and management system reviews to ensure technical compliance.
- Promote and actively support a strong safety culture across site.
- Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following
- Degree or equivalent in Chemistry is essential.
- Competent IT skills (excel, word and general system use)
- Forklift licence (advantageous)
- Personal skills
