Sub Agent Sector: Major Infrastructure / Civil Engineering Contract: Long-term opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major UK infrastructure project. This role will involve taking responsibility for a section of works, leading a team of Section Engineers and Site Engineers and ensuring delivery is completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards. The position would suit an experienced Sub Agent with a strong civil engineering background and previous experience delivering complex infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Site & Team Management Lead and manage a section of the works from planning through to delivery Manage and support Section Engineers and Site Engineers Monitor team performance and provide coaching and technical guidance where required Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractor resources Manage subcontractors and ensure works are delivered in line with programme and specification Work closely with engineering, construction, commercial and design teams Health, Safety & Environmental Review and improve Method Statements and Risk Assessments Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and followed correctly Carry out site and field safety audits Support and lead accident and incident investigations where required Identify trends from audits, incidents and near misses and implement improvements Produce and manage relevant Permits to Work Maintain a strong understanding of Temporary Works requirements and associated timescales Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation and project procedures Engineering & Technical Delivery Provide technical support and guidance to engineering teams Coach engineers in setting out requirements and techniques Support the resolution of construction and technical issues Liaise with designers to resolve design queries Ensure appropriate engineering controls are in place throughout construction Allocate suitable engineering resources to meet programme requirements Quality Take responsibility for the production, checking and submission of project handover documentation Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and approved materials Manage quality documentation, including NCRs, inspection records and handover information Carry out independent inspections and site audits Identify recurring quality issues and implement improvements Support less experienced engineers with quality and compliance requirements Programme & Productivity Produce and manage detailed, fully resourced programmes Develop short-term and medium-term construction programmes Monitor progress against programme and identify areas requiring intervention Track KPIs and productivity performance Coordinate section programmes with wider project schedules Identify resource requirements and potential programme risks Commercial Maintain accurate site records and detailed daily diaries Monitor weekly costs against budget and programme Support the procurement and management of subcontractors Understand project cost and value performance Produce detailed records and correspondence relating to subcontractors, suppliers and clients Support commercial recovery through accurate site documentation Skills & Experience The successful candidate will ideally have: Previous experience working as a Sub Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects Experience managing Section Engineers, Site Engineers and subcontractors Strong knowledge of construction processes and site delivery Good understanding of temporary works Strong understanding of setting out and engineering controls Experience producing and managing construction programmes Good knowledge of quality assurance and handover requirements Experience reviewing Method Statements and Risk Assessments Strong working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation Commercial awareness, including cost, value and subcontractor management Ability to manage multiple work packages and priorities Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and take ownership of delivery Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following: Earthworks Drainage Structures Pavements Roadworks Communications / Highways Infrastructure Qualifications Valid CSCS Card SSSTS or SMSTS Full UK driving licence Civil Engineering or Construction-related qualification would be advantageous Professional accreditation or progress towards ICE or a similar professional body would be desirable The Opportunity This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Sub Agent to take responsibility for a significant section of works on a major infrastructure programme.
