Astute's Power team is proud to be partnering with a leading Biomass company to hire an Outside Operator on a FTC for 8 months to join their Power Station in Thetford. The Production Operator role comes with a starting salary of c.£35,000 + overtime + private medical + other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Operator role:- Reporting to the Shift Team Leader you will perform routine operational checks and inspections.
- Operate plant systems and equipment following established operating procedures.
- Collaborate as a key member of the shift team to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks in line with approved maintenance processes and standards.
- Diagnose plant issues and propose effective solutions.
- Carry out pre-start inspections, commissioning, and decommissioning procedures.
- Provide clear, accurate, and complete shift handovers.
- Follow and promote all safety practices and operational procedures.
- Assist the Shift Team Leader in preparing safety-related documentation.
- Support and, when necessary, cover responsibilities within the fuel and ash operations team, including driving mobile plant.
This role will be working 12-hour shifts - full shift rota can be disclosed upon request.
Professional qualifications:- Ideally a NVQ Level 2 or 3 in a relevant engineering subject such as mechanical or electrical engineering.
- A health and safety qualification would be ideal but not a necessity.
- Prior experience working in a heavy process engineering environment such as power stations, paper mills, refineries, steel production, cement, etc.
- Good teamworking skills and willing to pick up other work when needed.
- Experience in fault finding techniques.
- Safety-conscious with a strong commitment to following procedures and maintaining high standards.
- A reliable team player with good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
- Practical and hands-on, with experience operating mobile plant and carrying out routine plant inspections.
Salary of c. £35,000 (pro-rated).
