Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit a Shift Supervisor for its Lower‑Tier COMAH site in Northampton. The Shift Supervisor role comes with a competitive basic salary + shift allowance, benefits and opportunity for on‑the‑job training & further progression.
Responsibilities
- Supervise safe handling of all fuels and additives received, stored and distributed on site, in line with safety standards and legislation.
- Act as the competent person on site in absence of the Operations Supervisor.
- Oversee the maintenance and integrity of terminal plant and equipment to support safe and reliable operations.
- Manage day‑to‑day terminal operations, coordinating drivers and contractors to maintain efficient logistics and high customer service standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring regulatory compliance, monitoring operational performance, and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in a process or engineering discipline.
- IOSH or equivalent safety qualification.
- Experience supervising operations within a high‑hazard, continuous process environment (e.g. fuel terminal, refinery, chemical process plant).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, including Excel.
- A strong awareness of health & safety practices is essential.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

- A strong communicator.
- Experienced in maintaining and driving a strong safety culture on site by ensuring compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
- Happy to work a shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
