The Senior Design Engineer role is strategically important within the organisation and comes with a salary between £70,000-£80,000, pension, and flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Design Engineer roleReporting to the Chief Engineer - Network, you will:
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical infrastructure for EV charging sites, including forecourts, hubs, and EHGV locations.
- Develop specifications and manage internal teams and external partners to deliver designs on time, on budget, and to standard.
- Review HV and LV/DC & AC designs for compliance with client requirements, company standards, and H&S regulations.
- Prepare and oversee electrical schematics, cable schedules, AutoCAD drawings, calculations, and protective device settings.
- Implement innovative solutions for EV charging and renewable energy systems, including solar and BESS.
- Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Conduct site surveys to confirm feasibility and gather data for final designs.
- Support planning applications, grid connections, and commercial tenders.
- Ensure all designs meet CDM, local/international standards, and company technical policies.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related technical field.
- Experience in HV (11 & 33kV), LV, and DC electrical systems.
- Confident in leading technical teams, managing external consultants, and coordinating client design processes.
- Skilled in HV grid studies, protection coordination, earthing, and electrical system analysis.
- Experienced with AutoCAD, Amtech/Electrical OM, and other design tools.
- Analytical, with excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and organisational skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
