Astute's Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a utility-scale Solar O&M specialist to recruit an HV AP Field Service Engineer for sites across Launceston and the surrounding Cornwall area. The HV AP Field Service Engineer role offers a salary of £30,000 - £42,000 depending on experience, alongside a company van, tools, and the opportunity to develop a long-term career within the renewable energy sector. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance on HV, LV AC, and LV DC electrical systems across multiple sites in line with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Respond to HV network outages, faults, and equipment failures, carrying out diagnostics and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair electrical infrastructure, including substations, protection relays, communications equipment, CCTV, and weather monitoring systems.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in specialist electrical equipment, including G59, Earth Fault, and Overcurrent Protection Relays.
  • Conduct mechanical inspections and maintenance of site infrastructure, security systems, fencing, and associated assets.
  • Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to coordinate network activities, outages, and operational requirements.
  • Complete accurate maintenance records, technical reports, and certification documentation.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Professional qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing & Inspection.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • High Voltage AP Qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least one year's experience within an electrical maintenance environment (industrial, commercial, domestic, or utilities).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
