Responsibilities and duties of the General Foreman role
- Take overall responsibility for supervising and delivering site activities safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage and coordinate site teams including Section Foremen, Site Engineers, and Assurance Engineers.
- Oversee subcontractors to ensure works are completed in line with contractual requirements and production targets.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the delivery, storage, and maintenance of materials, plant, and equipment.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Site Management Team on work programmes and method statements.
- Lead site inspections to ensure compliance with health & safety standards, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all personnel are briefed on safe systems of work including toolbox talks and task briefings.
- Support the Project Manager in implementing changes directed by the client.
- Monitor site performance and address any issues relating to quality, safety, or productivity.
Professional qualifications
- Relevant construction or engineering qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent preferred).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and contractor responsibilities.
- Experience using company systems (e.g., Themis or similar).
- Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role on construction projects.
