Astute's Power Team is partnered with a global company, who specialise in the Energy from Waste industry, to recruit for a Mechanical Technician to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Grangemouth, Scotland. The vital Mechanical Technician role comes with a salary of c.£50,000 + £2,500 call out allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Fault finding and maintaining mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressed air systems, etc.
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices.
  • To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements.
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects.
  • Supervising and setting to work on site contractors.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination.
  • To ensure the availability of plant spares.

Professional qualifications:

  • Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering.
  • A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous.

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge:

  • The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has hands-on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill, etc.
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity.
