Responsibilities and duties of the Principal Electrical Engineer role:
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime and engineering projects.
- Define system architectures, select components, and ensure compliance with electrical safety and EMC standards.
- Produce and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable assembly documentation.
- Support system integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure technical accuracy across specifications and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers to enhance team capability.

Professional qualifications:

- Experience using electrical CAD software packages.
- Knowledge of CE/UKCA directives, EMC regulations, electrical safety requirements, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience designing for cost, manufacturability, and testability.
- Understanding of system integration, validation, and debugging activities.
- Familiarity with PLCs, motor control systems, and industrial automation would be advantageous.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
