Astute's Renewables team is partnered with an internationally recognised utility-scale solar developer and operator with a strong track record in delivering and managing renewable energy assets across multiple markets to recruit a Technical Control Centre Team Lead to be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow regions. Responsibilities and duties of the Technical Control Centre Team Lead role:
- Oversee day-to-day control centre operations, ensuring effective monitoring of wind, solar and BESS assets.
- Provide supervision, structure, and day-to-day support to a small team of control room operators.
- Set clear expectations around workload priorities, performance standards, and operational consistency.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, including relevant UK operational safety procedures.
- Act as a key operational contact for internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service quality, and response times.
- Monitor operational performance and support actions aimed at reducing downtime and improving asset availability.
- Coordinate with other international control centres to support alignment of processes and best practice sharing.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of new team members within the control centre.
Professional qualifications:
- Experience in renewable energy operations (wind, solar, or BESS), ideally within a control room or O&M environment.
- Previous experience in a senior operator, shift lead, or supervisory capacity.
- Understanding of safe systems of work and UK health & safety requirements (WTSR knowledge beneficial).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage operational tasks effectively.
- Confident user of monitoring systems and digital operational tools.
- Clear and effective communication skills across technical and operational teams.
