Responsibilities
- Deliver civil and structural designs for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects from early design through to construction.
- Assess site conditions and determine appropriate solutions for foundations, piling, earthworks, drainage, and access infrastructure.
- Review and interpret technical specifications, employer's requirements, and engineering drawings.
- Evaluate site surveys and third-party reports, including geotechnical, flood risk, topographical, and hydrological studies.
- Define scopes of work and technical requirements for civil subcontractors and external consultants.
- Ensure all civil works comply with relevant standards, CDM regulations, and internal QHSE policies.
- Coordinate civil design inputs with internal engineering disciplines and project teams.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, resolving design and site-related issues.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for civil engineering matters with external partners and consultants.
- Review and approve civil and structural designs and engineering reports produced by third parties.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's desirable).
- Experience in renewables, utilities, infrastructure, or a similar engineering environment.
- Good knowledge of UK and international engineering standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Tekla Tedds and Tekla Structural Designer advantageous.
- Experience in civil and foundation design, including piling and earthworks.
- Ability to interpret geotechnical, topographical, hydrological, and flood risk reports.
- Knowledge of drainage design and surface water management (SuDS desirable).
- Familiarity with solar PV and battery energy storage projects (desirable).
- Understanding of CDM regulations (desirable).
