Astute's Renewables Team is partnering with a well-established anaerobic digestion and renewable energy business that plays a key role in sustainable energy generation across the UK, to recruit a Health & Safety Manager for its Oxfordshire/Northampton sites. Responsibilities and duties of the Health & Safety Manager role:
- Lead the development and implementation of HSE strategy and supporting tactical plans.
- Act as a key advisor to leadership on safety, occupational health, and wellbeing matters.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including CDM 2015, guiding duty holders on their responsibilities.
- Provide technical expertise across the full project lifecycle, including process safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA).
- Promote and embed H&S best practice across all business functions.
- Monitor HSE performance, analysing trends and driving continuous improvement actions.
- Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations.
- Support supplier onboarding and qualification from an H&S perspective.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align systems with operational risks and business needs.
- Engage with external bodies including regulators and emergency services to ensure effective compliance and response planning.
Professional Qualifications:
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent H&S qualification.
- Knowledge of ISO standards, particularly 45001.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within engineering, construction, or process environments, with anaerobic digestion or gas production experience advantageous.
- Experienced with CDM, COMAH, DSEAR, ADR, GSMR regulations.
Personal skills:
- Flexible to travel to sites to maintain accessibility across the business.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
