Astute People are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support a major data centre project in Finland on a long-term contract. The role is site-based and will suit an engineer with strong LV/MV electrical commissioning experience, particularly across switchgear, critical power systems and large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects. This is a long-term contract opportunity with an ASAP or flexible start date and a competitive day rate dependent on experience. Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Commissioning Engineer role You'll be site-based, working alongside commissioning, construction and client teams to deliver electrical systems safely and in line with project requirements. Carry out electrical commissioning activities across LV and MV systems. Support testing, verification, energisation and commissioning of electrical equipment. Commission and test MV/LV switchgear, transformers and associated distribution systems. Complete commissioning documentation, test records and handover documentation. Support functional testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems. Work alongside commissioning, construction and client teams to ensure systems are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements. Follow site Permit to Work, LOTO and health and safety procedures. Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning. Professional qualifications We are looking for candidates with the following: Strong electrical commissioning background. Proven experience with LV/MV electrical systems and switchgear. Experience within data centre, mission-critical, power generation or other critical infrastructure environments. Experience with testing, energisation and handover. Good understanding of electrical protection and control systems. Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation. Strong understanding of safe working practices, Permit to Work and LOTO procedures. Relevant electrical engineering qualification or equivalent experience. Previous international project experience is advantageous. EU passport or existing Finnish work authorisation preferred, although relevant international candidates will be considered subject to work authorisation requirements. Personal skills The Electrical Commissioning Engineer role would suit someone who is: Experienced working on large-scale data centre, mission-critical or critical infrastructure projects. Technically strong across LV/MV switchgear, transformers and electrical distribution systems. Confident supporting testing, energisation, fault-finding and handover activities. Comfortable working with commissioning, construction and client teams in a site-based environment. Organised and methodical, with strong attention to safety, documentation and detail. A clear communicator who can identify issues and work collaboratively to resolve them.
