Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Renewables company to recruit a Head of Development for their Renewables team across the UK and Ireland. The Head of Development role will be focused on their Wind and Solar assets. This is a hybrid role, and travel to assets will be required on a regular basis.

If you’re experienced in the Wind or Solar industry as a Senior Manager, with strong leadership skills and experience managing pipeline from origination to financial decision, then upload your CV to apply today.

Responsibilities and duties of the Head of Development:

  • Lead and develop a geographically dispersed renewable development team of 10+ professionals across the UK and Ireland.
  • Drive renewable energy projects from origination through to Ready-to-Build and Financial Decision stages.
  • Deliver ambitious development targets and ensure successful execution of greenfield initiatives.
  • Lead project origination activities through acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic business development opportunities.
  • Build and manage renewable energy portfolios comprising utility-scale solar and onshore wind projects.
  • Oversee partnership and acquisition activities to maximise project progression and commercial success.
  • Provide high-quality reporting, market insights, and regulatory guidance to the wider renewables team.
  • Act as the key interface between Development and internal departments including EPC, Commercial Analysis, Offtake, and Asset Rotation teams.
  • Represent the Development team externally while promoting a collaborative, solution-focused leadership culture internally.

Requirements:

  • Strong project management expertise, particularly within acquisition-led renewable development environments.
  • Demonstrated track record in UK utility-scale solar and onshore wind project development from origination to Ready-to-Build stage.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and partnership-building skills.
  • Comfortable working in international environments with willingness to travel regularly.
