Astute's Renewables team is partnered with one of the UK's leading renewable energy providers, who own and run a portfolio of anaerobic digestion plants across England and Wales. They are looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for their site in Surrey. The Maintenance Engineer role comes with a competitive salary + bonus, and excellent benefits package. Responsibilities and duties of the Maintenance Engineer role:

  • Reporting to the Area Manager you will be responsible for all operational equipment and machinery including, but not limited to front end processing, pumping technology, digester and ancillary equipment, heating circuit and pasteurisation processes.
  • Follow, maintain and improve FIIX for all PPM's, input and detail any repairs or services on machinery to enhance a maintenance regime against each piece of equipment.
  • Review and/or provide thorough method statements, risk assessments and permit to work for non-routine maintenance tasks.
  • Build and improve on a thorough planned preventative maintenance program.
  • Support across three sites within their portfolio as and when needed.
  • Provide basic training, support and mentoring for site operatives.
  • Deliver planned improvements and refurbishments as part of the planned maintenance programme.
  • Ensure control measures and SSW (safe systems of work) are in place when undertaking any maintenance task.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure safe and tidy work areas.
  • Undertake any training requirements as identified by your line manager to support you in your role.
  • Be part of an on-call rota.
  • Other duties as required.

Professional qualifications:

  • A recognised engineering qualification or demonstrable experience.
  • IOSH is desired.
  • Compex and ATEX is desired.
  • A full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Personal skills:

  • Experience working in anaerobic digestion or a similar heavy processing environment such as water treatment, food manufacturing, etc.
  • Practical environmental and working safely knowledge.
  • Electrical competence.
  • Computer literate.
  • Mechanical hands-on engineering essential.
  • Working knowledge of substrate pumps.
  • Confined Space Training.
  • Experience of using and fixing pumps, valves, screw conveyors, gearbox drive units, heating circuits, macerators, hammermills and mixers.
