Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for a Site Manager (Solar) to join the Principal Contract on the delivery of a new build 20MW Solar farm based in Caerphilly, Wales. The Site Manager (Solar) position comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £550.00 per day outside of IR35.
Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
- Coordinate logistics with Project Manager and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Conduct pre-construction site assessments and manage site setup, including temporary facilities, temporary access roads, and laydown areas.
- Lead and manage on-site subcontractor teams ensuring efficient workflows for timely completion.
- Supervise all construction activities, including but not limited to: delivery logistics and materials distribution, groundworks, civil works, structure installation, module mounting, electrical and earthing works, commissioning, site reinstatement.
- Collaborate with Principal Designer during the development of the Risk Register during pre-construction, and ensure a smooth handover when construction starts.
- Act as Principal Contractor and ensure all construction activities comply with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
- Implement and enforce health and safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
- Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular toolbox talks focused on daily planned activities and associated risks, site inspections, and incident reporting.
- Ensure that all work is executed to high standards and in line with Employer Requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide regular updates to the project manager, including progress reports, cost tracking, and risk assessments.
- Monitor project progress, identify and address potential time and cost overruns.
- Optimise resource allocation, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to maximise efficiency.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale solar farm projects, ideally 20MW+.
- Experienced in UK construction practices, regulations, and standards, including CDM compliance.
Desired but not compulsory:
- Relevant certifications in construction management (e.g. Black Manager's CSCS Card, Gold Supervisor's CSCS Card).
- Relevant certifications in health and safety (e.g., SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH).
